(Patria) - Croatian President Zoran Milanović spoke today by phone with Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović.
He told him that the resolution on Jasenovac, adopted yesterday by the Parliament of Montenegro, is a harmful daily political act, Milanović's office announced.
Milanović told Milatović that the mentioned resolution unnecessarily burdens relations between the two countries and that it is necessary to continue building good neighborly relations in order to avoid unwanted consequences of adopting the resolution.
Croatia has so far supported Montenegro in its accession negotiations, convinced that this country genuinely wants to secure its place in the EU, Milanović emphasized.
He also believes that European Montenegro must find the strength to conduct state policy in its own interest.
Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, in a statement to journalists on the sidelines of the Dubrovnik Forum, said today that the resolution adopted by the Parliament of Montenegro is "a reflection of intentions" that are neither good neighborly nor partnership-based.
