In Vogošća, the 34th anniversary of the attack on Semizovac and Svrake was commemorated

(Patria) - By laying flowers and reciting Fatiha at the Central Memorial in the Vogošća settlement of Svrake, the anniversary of the attack on Semizovac and Svrake was commemorated, and on that occasion, tribute was also paid to all martyrs and fallen soldiers of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina who laid down their lives during the aggression against the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The event "Truth and Remembrance (Svrake 02. 5. 1992. - 02. 5. 2026.), organized by the Svraćani association, symbolically began at 10:55 AM, as a reminder of the attack that started at 10:55 PM. Numerous citizens also remembered the heroic resistance of the members of the Patriotic League of BiH, active and reserve police forces, and other citizens who, on this day 34 years ago, in this settlement, engaged in an unequal struggle against a much better-equipped and superior enemy, and the delegation of the Municipality of Vogošća was led by Mayor Migdad Hasanović.

In his address to those present, Mayor Hasanović emphasized, among other things, that events like this are very important for preserving the culture of remembrance and reminding of the horrors and crimes during the aggression against the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially for the younger generations who must know the truth and whose mission is to preserve it.

The municipal mayor emphasized that veteran associations from the municipality of Vogošća make a special contribution to this. During the attack on Svrake, Šaćir Fejzović was killed. Four other residents were wounded, and there was no house that did not suffer some form of damage. Hikmet Prutina, president of the Svraćani association, also addressed those present, chronologically describing everything that happened from the beginning of 1992.

Prutina recalled that during an attempt to evacuate from the settlement, Serbs forcibly detained more than 500 residents of Svrake in the JNA barracks in Semizovac, from where they were further taken to their camps Bunker near the Pension Kon-Tiki in Vogošća, Nakina garage at the Vogošća interchange, and later to Planjina kuća in Svrake, where they underwent various forms of psychological and physical torture.

Bosniaks who remained in the settlement outside the aggressor camps were killed, and 25 residents of Svrake who were taken from Planjina kuća in Svrake to an unknown location are still being searched for.
