In USK, majority for budget adoption is questionable, veterans and healthcare workers protest

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The session of the Assembly of the Una-Sana Canton, where deputies are considering the canton's budget and the financial plan of the USK Health Insurance Fund, is held in the shadow of peaceful protests by budget beneficiaries.

Employees in healthcare institutions, who have not received their December salaries due to the non-adoption of the Fund's plan, spontaneously gathered in front of the USK Assembly building to point out that their existence must not be a tool for politicking.

- We ask the Assembly deputies not to listen to the orders of their party leaders but to act according to their conscience. We are not interested in politics. We have honestly earned our salaries and are only asking for our rights - says Elvir Hrustanović, president of the Independent Professional Trade Union of Healthcare Workers at the Cantonal Hospital in Bihać.

Demobilized soldiers are also in front of the Assembly building, demanding the adoption of the budget so that the USK government can pay out veteran benefits.

There were 26 deputies present at the session, and for now, there is no parliamentary majority that would adopt the budget and the financial plan of the USK Health Insurance Fund.
