In Srebrenica quiet since this morning. There are almost no pedestrians on the streets. Srebrenica residents are calmly awaiting the verdict for Radovan Karadžić. Only a slightly larger number of police officers patrolling around the Municipality building, the main square, and the Memorial Center in Potočari, writes the Patria agency.
The Hague Tribunal will today at 2 p.m. pronounce the verdict for the first president of Republika Srpska, Radovan Karadžić, for genocide crimes in seven municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina... The prosecution accuses Karadžić of sniper actions against civilians in Sarajevo, taking UN peacekeepers hostage. Karadžić is also charged with genocide crimes in Srebrenica.
- It is quiet in Srebrenica. There are no people on the streets. Partly due to the cold, but probably also due to Karadžić's verdict - Edin Ikanović from the non-governmental organization Prvi mart told Patria.
In the Memorial Center in Potočari, a public broadcast of the pronouncement of Karadžić's verdict has been organized. The families of those killed from Srebrenica and surrounding municipalities will gather at the place where Karadžić's policy killed more than 8,000 Bosniaks. There is also a large number of journalists in Potočari, writes Patria.
