In Sarajevo, the 33rd sad anniversary of the death of heroine Fadila Odžaković Žuta was commemorated

(Patria) - Minister for Veterans' Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, Omer Osmanović, visited the Lav cemetery and the grave of Fadila Odžaković Žuta today, on the occasion of the 33rd sad anniversary of the death of the defense heroine.

Osmanović then attended the commemoration of the anniversary of the death of the late commander Mujo Šejta, holder of the highest wartime recognition "Golden Lily".

On this occasion, Osmanović laid flowers and paid tribute to all other martyrs and fallen soldiers of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He emphasized the importance of the culture of remembrance and the need for permanent commemorations of the sad anniversaries of the deaths of the heroes of the defense of our homeland.

- It is our duty to preserve the memory of the bravest daughters and sons of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They defended the freedom we live in today with their lives, and it is up to us to ensure that their sacrifice is never forgotten - said the minister.

He also emphasized that only we, who survived the aggression against our homeland, the war, and the genocide, can know the true value of peace.

- Therefore, we should always and everywhere use the opportunity to call on our politicians and leaders to take the necessary steps towards Bosnia and Herzegovina's path to NATO membership, which is a guarantee of peace and stability - Osmanović underlined.

Fadila Odžaković Žuta, one of the bravest daughters of Bosnia and Herzegovina, died on September 20, 1992, as a member of the 1st Motorized Brigade, from the consequences of wounds sustained during fighting on the Sarajevo hill of Žuč.
