In Sarajevo, new protests for Dženan Memić

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The ninth protest by the Memić family will be held today on the plateau in front of the National Theatre in Sarajevo, starting at 5 p.m., where they will, together with citizens, demand that the murder of Dženan Memić be solved.

On February 8, 2016, Memić suffered life-threatening injuries in Velika aleja under still unexplained circumstances, and died on February 15, 2016. Nothing significant has happened even after the acquittal of Ljubi and Bekrija Seferović, which was pronounced on July 16.

The state prosecution has formed a case file in the murder of Dženan Memić, but to date, no family members have been called to testify. For days, the BiH Prosecutor's Office has not responded to inquiries about the status of the case and the investigation into the murder of Dženan Memić. The Memić family claims that the investigation is being deliberately obstructed. It is also questionable how much the BiH Prosecutor's Office is currently working at full capacity, as the selection of the chief prosecutor and deputy chief prosecutor is underway.

On the other hand, the Disciplinary Prosecutor's Office is delaying disciplinary proceedings against the chief prosecutor of the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, Dalida Burzić, and other prosecutors who have been reported for serious disciplinary offenses. The Memić family's lawyer, Ifet Feraget, is dissatisfied with the work of the Disciplinary Prosecutor's Office, given the clear indications of omissions in the Dženan Memić case by the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office. The HJPC is also without a reaction, although there have been requests for the suspension of prosecutor Burzić.

Criminal charges are also being prepared against prosecutors from the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, federal prosecutors, experts, and other individuals suspected of having contributed in any way to the concealment of the truth about Dženan Memić's death.

Muriz Memić, the young man's father, announced that he would reveal by name and surname who concealed the evidence and how the investigation was led in the wrong direction.

Amir Agić, the father of the deceased Selma Agić, whom Sanjin Sefić killed with a car along with Edita Malkoč, will also attend the protests. Sefić was sentenced to 14.5 years in prison, while four accomplices, including his sister Sara, were acquitted of the charges. The court explained this by stating that "the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office did not present valid evidence that they committed the criminal offenses they were charged with."

The victims' families are shocked by the verdict, and the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office has announced an appeal. Justice has not been served in these cases. They are calling on citizens from all over BiH to join them in today's protests.
