In Sarajevo today, a round table on 'New Law on HJPC: A crossroads between professionalism and politics'

(Patria) - Transparency International in BiH, in cooperation with the Joint Coordination Body of Judges and Prosecutors of BiH and with the support of the EU, is organizing a round table today in Sarajevo titled "New Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council: A crossroads between professionalism and politics".

The aim of the round table is to involve the professional community in the process of drafting the law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council and to analyze the proposed legal solution regarding the composition of the Council and its independence, provisions on conflict of interest and asset declaration, the method of election and the competencies of the HJPC's auxiliary bodies, as well as disciplinary proceedings and other mechanisms for ensuring the integrity of judges and prosecutors.

Panelists will include representatives of relevant institutions and bodies responsible for fighting corruption, experts in this field, as well as representatives of international institutions, civil society organizations, and the media in BiH.

The round table will be held at the Movenpick Hotel in Sarajevo (formerly Bristol), starting at 10:00 AM. Statements for the media are planned for 9:30 AM.
