In Međimurje Damir Novak, cartoonist of Međimurske novine, murdered

(Patria) - In Mali Mihaljevec in Međimurje, Damir Novak, cartoonist of Međimurske novine and SDP president of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Sveti Juraj na Bregu, was murdered today.

The killer committed suicide after the murder.

- There is no longer room for panic, the perpetrator of the murder has been found dead, he most likely took his own life because a rifle was found with him - says the spokesperson of the Međimurje Police Administration, Radovan Gačalo.

At 1:51 PM, this police administration received a report that an unknown person had fired a firearm in Mali Mihaljevec and that another person was lying motionless on the road.

All available police forces and emergency medical services were immediately dispatched to the scene.

The criminal investigation conducted so far has established that a 68-year-old man fatally shot a 65-year-old man with a firearm and then committed suicide in a nearby grove with a firearm, which police officers found at the scene of the suicide.

Intensive criminal investigations and an on-site inspection are being carried out at the scene.

According to Hina, the killer is Novak's neighbor Dragutin Srnec.

It is unofficially known that the victim and the killer had been in conflict for many years, primarily over neighborly relations and court disputes related to property boundaries.

According to information, there were threats for many years in the past, and the police had intervened in these conflicts before.
