In Kiseljak, an elementary school was opened exclusively for students of Croatian nationality

Students of the Nikola Šop High School and the Vocational High School in Jajce managed to stop the divisions among them, after local authorities tried to establish a school for Bosniaks and a school for children of Croatian nationality. However, elementary school students in Kiseljak did not manage to stop the divisions, writes the Patria news agency.

In the Kiseljak settlement of Brestovsko, the Brestovsko Elementary School was officially opened today, where classes will be conducted according to the Croatian curriculum and will be attended exclusively by students of Croatian nationality. Bosniak children remained in the old school building, in the same settlement, about 1.5 kilometers further away.

In Kiseljak, two schools previously functioned under one roof: one was named Kiseljak 1 Elementary School, and the other Brestovsko Elementary School. In the first, classes are conducted according to the Bosnian curriculum, and in the second, according to the Croatian curriculum. Given that the Supreme Court of FBiH had previously banned "two schools under one roof", the authorities did not try to create one school for all students, but instead physically separated the elementary school students from this year.

From this school year, students of Croatian nationality attend classes in the new school, which is located in the renovated former Community Center, while their Bosniak peers remained in the old school. The school was opened by the leader of HDZ BiH, Dragan Čović.
