In Bihać, field exercise for protection and rescue services in case of floods began

(Patria) - In Bihać, the field exercise "NICS Bihać 2024" began today, the aim of which is to test the ability of protection and rescue services to act together in rescue missions in case of floods.

During the exercise, the NICS system - Next Generation Incident Command System - an advanced system for communication and coordination of rescue operations, developed by MIT Lincoln Laboratory, is being used. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is being implemented with the support of the NATO Science for Peace and Security (SPS) program.

The system helps various protection and rescue services in Bosnia and Herzegovina to unite and more effectively combat natural and other disasters, which includes saving lives and property of people in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In addition to training local protection and rescue services in the use of the NICS system, a field exercise will be held tomorrow, in which representatives of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Civil Protection Administration of Republika Srpska, the Federal Civil Protection Administration of FBiH, the Department of Public Security of Brčko District, the Civil Protection of USK and the Directorate of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Interior of Croatia will participate.
