Sutomore in Montenegro: Beautiful beaches, but city streets full of garbage and stray dogs

The summer season is in full swing, and numerous citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina are seeking refuge from the heat of the city asphalt on the shores of the Adriatic Sea, in Croatia, Montenegro, or Albania, writes the news agency Patria.

One of the popular destinations on the Montenegrin coast for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina is Sutomore, where due to its favorable geographical location, the season lasts from mid-May to mid-October.

Sutomore is surrounded by mountain ranges and has a wide sandy beach and the open sea. When it comes to prices, they are considerably more affordable compared to Croatia, whether it's accommodation or catering facilities.

But on the other hand, numerous citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina vacationing in Sutomore were unpleasantly surprised by the dirty streets with a large number of dogs rummaging through the garbage.

Esma from Sarajevo, who says she wanted to forget about stray dogs in Sarajevo at least for a while, says that the local population hardly pays any attention.

- We thought we would forget about stray dogs for a while, of which there are more and more in Sarajevo. But, apparently, we were mistaken. As soon as we arrived in Sutomore, I immediately noticed a large number of dogs and watched with amazement as the locals hardly paid any attention to them – says Esma.

Fortunately, she notes, they are calm and not aggressive.

We were in Sutomore for seven days, I didn't hear a single dog bark or attack anyone. But the mere thought that they are around you in such numbers causes discomfort – she adds.

The large number of dogs is also shown by the case where they recently slaughtered 40 goats and kids in Spičansko polje in Sutomore.

Officials then admitted that stray dogs are a big problem in Sutomore.
