Situation in BiH causes great concern in the EU

(Patria) - European Commission spokesperson Peter Stano said today that the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is causing great concern to the European Union.

Stano said that the EU has "increased political activity" with its American partners to try to find a solution to the current crisis in BiH.

He emphasized that the Althea-EUFOR mission plays an important role in the stability and security of the country.

"We will follow the talks planned for today and for the coming days at the United Nations Security Council, but it is not up to us to comment on these discussions, and we expect the mandate of the mission, which is important for Bosnia and Herzegovina, to be extended. We are committed to the Althea mission, as confirmed by the conclusions of the meeting on October 18th," emphasized the European Commission spokesperson.

He added that the EU representative had meetings with political leaders in BiH to convey messages, and they are clear - the rhetoric that causes division must stop, unilateral actions that threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and unity of Bosnia must be stopped...

"We must engage in political dialogue because it is the only constructive way to find a solution to the crisis, dialogue among political leaders, and as I said, unilateral actions and divisive rhetoric must stop for the good of the citizens and the European perspective of BiH," said Petar Stano.

Finally, he reiterated that the European Union's engagement in Bosnia and Herzegovina continues.

"It is not just about the visits last week, but we are continuing with our activities to assist political leaders in BiH in finding a solution to the crisis," concluded the European Commission spokesperson.
