SDP BiH: Plenković's messages on constitutional changes are ill-intentioned towards BiH citizens

The Social Democratic Party of BiH considers the messages on how the Constitution and Election Law of BiH should be changed, sent by Andrej Plenković, the new Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, unacceptable and ill-intentioned towards BiH and all its citizens. 

BiH is not and cannot be an ethnically divided state, in which there would be separate ballot boxes for Croats, Serbs, and Bosniaks in elections, which in practice means implementing Plenković's ideas that "Croats elect Croatian representatives". This means that Serbs would then elect Serb representatives, and Bosniaks would elect Bosniak representatives, which would destroy the multi-ethnic character of BiH, lead the country to final collapse, and lose its last element of civil society.

BiH needs changes in line with fundamental European values, which are certainly not further territorial-ethnic segregation and the creation of inequality among its citizens solely and exclusively on the basis of ethnic affiliation. 

This is contrary to everything that is valuable and that modern European policy advocates for, and, more importantly, it is contrary to the centuries-old spirit of BiH and the culture of coexistence of its citizens and peoples who have always lived together, not next to each other. 

With his messages, Plenković unfortunately showed how little he knows about BiH, and what is even more damning for him is that such a policy is contrary to Croatia's publicly proclaimed interest in stabilizing and improving the situation in BiH.

Further ethnic divisions will only further destabilize BiH, and thus the region, which certainly includes the Republic of Croatia. 

We call on the authorities of the Republic of Croatia to treat BiH based on the fundamental values respected both in the EU and in Croatia itself, and that is ensuring the full equality of all citizens throughout the territory of BiH. 

Only in this way will true equality be ensured for Croats, but also for Bosniaks, Serbs, and all other citizens of BiH throughout its territory, who are tired of imported experiments and who only want to live, like all other EU citizens, in peace and prosperity. 

The silence of the BiH authorities on such messages is shameful, as they have once again shown a lack of any vision for the further progress of BiH and its integration into a modern state and society.
