Sarajevo police taking all measures to protect people, property and security on January 9th

(Patria) - In light of information that has appeared in the public sphere in recent days, which has attracted attention and caused some concern among citizens in the Sarajevo Canton, the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton informs the public as follows:

"Police officers of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton, in accordance with their statutory powers, continuously take measures and actions within their jurisdiction to protect the personal and property security of citizens and visitors in the Sarajevo Canton.

Regarding the announced activities in the area of East Sarajevo on January 9, 2023, and in response to which some associations have sent public requests to the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton for 'setting up checkpoints on the inter-entity line', the police commissioner held a professional collegium with police leaders of the organizational units of the Police Administration, and it was concluded that the Sarajevo Canton police will take all necessary measures and actions to protect the achieved level of security in the Sarajevo Canton, through, among other things, intensifying the exchange of security-relevant information with all police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Intelligence-Security Agency of BiH, and increased presence of police officers in the Sarajevo Canton.

We take this opportunity to appeal to the representatives and members of certain associations and organizations to align all their potentially planned activities with legal regulations, and not to contribute to the creation of an atmosphere of fear and insecurity among citizens and visitors with their public statements.

At the same time, we also appeal to other bodies and institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina to protect the constitutional and legal order within their competencies and powers, and to investigate and prosecute all individuals who, through their actions, cause and incite national, racial or religious hatred, discord and intolerance.

We ask the citizens and visitors of the Sarajevo Canton for cooperation with the police, we invite them to report any form of potential unlawful behavior to the competent police administrations, and to refrain from any reaction to potential provocations aimed at disrupting public order and peace and general security in our canton.

Police officers of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton are unequivocally ready and capable of adequately responding to all security challenges within their jurisdiction," it was announced from the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton.
