Sarajevo Police Receive 90 New Vehicles

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton received 90 new passenger motor vehicles today. 3,000,000 KM were allocated from the KS budget for their purchase, and the procurement of another 50 cars is planned for this year, announced the Prime Minister of KS, Elmedin Konaković.

The handover of the vehicles was attended by the Speaker of the KS Assembly, Ana Babić, ministers in the Government Vedran Mulabdić, Mujo Fišo, Muharem Fišo, Čedomir Lukić, Jasmin Halebić, the Police Commissioner of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, Mevludin Halilović, with his associates, and numerous members of the police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of KS.

Prime Minister Konaković said that there had been no car procurement since 2009, and that this had hindered the performance of honorable and honest police work.

- This segment of security is extremely important to the Government of Sarajevo Canton, and we have given it special importance from the beginning of our work. We have hired 120 police officers, and another 120 are starting training this year. With these vehicles and the equipment we have purchased, as well as the two salary increases, I think we have given significant 'wind in the sails' to the best police force in BiH" - stated Prime Minister Konaković.

Commissioner Halilović announced that the procurement of vehicles for the Criminal Intelligence Unit, vehicles for the transport of persons deprived of liberty, and off-road vehicles is planned. He thanked the Government of Sarajevo Canton and Prime Minister Konaković for their willingness to allocate funds for the procurement of vehicles and specialized equipment worth 2,370,000 KM.

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Mulabdić, said that the use of new vehicles will contribute to the improvement of the work of police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of KS and an increased level of security in KS.
