Plenković in Mostar: We support Bosnia and Herzegovina's European path, but with equal rights for Croats

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Croatia will continue to strongly support Bosnia and Herzegovina's European path, which also includes achieving equal rights for the Croatian people, said Croatian Prime Minister and President of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) Andrej Plenković today in Mostar.

"We, as a party, but also as the Government and the Republic of Croatia, strongly support BiH's European path. We know that the HDZ BiH plays a prominent role in this," said Plenković on the eve of the 13th electoral Assembly of the HDZ BiH.

Plenković also stated that "the HDZ BiH has played a special role in the European integration of BiH", noting that its president, Dragan Čović, in his capacity as former member of the BiH Presidency, submitted the application for BiH's membership in the European Union.

High party and state officials Davor Božinović, Lovro Kuščević, Goran Marić, Branko Bačić, Zvonko Milas are also participating with Plenković at the Assembly of the HDZ BiH in Mostar.

Dragan Čović, leader of the HDZ BiH, said that at today's party convention, he will extend a hand to Serbs and Bosniaks to jointly direct the country towards the European Union.

Čović, who has led the HDZ BiH since 2005, is today once again the main candidate for that position. 524 delegates are participating in the Assembly, and in addition to electing the party leadership, a new party declaration will be adopted.
