Opposition responds fiercely to Dodik: We will not allow the dismissal of auditor Šnjegota

Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik announced today the dismissal of the chief auditor of RS Duško Šnjegota, writes Patria News Agency.

Dodik's announcement of dismissal has caused fierce reactions from the opposition. The leaders of three opposition parties in RS, Dragan Čavić, Branislav Borenović, and Vukota Govedarica, held press conferences and defended Šnjegota.

The president of the National Democratic Party, Dragan Čavić, said that the President of the Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, has turned this entity into a ghetto, writes Patria News Agency.

Čavić stated that the dismissal of the chief auditor of RS, Duško Šnjegota, which Milorad Dodik requested, would be the abolition of the last institution in RS that has maintained some degree of independence, and that it would be the last straw.

- The last institution that was somewhat objective is the institution of the Chief Audit Service. The call for Mr. Šnjegota's resignation and the dissemination of lies are the height of cynicism. Courts and prosecutor's offices have long been under the enormous political influence of SNSD and its leaders. The call for Šnjegota's dismissal is completely unacceptable. If this comes to the agenda, we should leave Parliament and not return until the elections – said Čavić.

The leader of the NDP stated that he will propose to the coalition partners not to return to the National Assembly of RS until the referendum decisions are implemented.

- Enough is enough. What kind of surplus is there when the same government does not pay out subsidies for agriculture, how can the public of Republika Srpska be so brazenly lied to? That is a complete untruth. Every second mark earned goes to repaying loans. We cover loans with loans – emphasized Čavić.

Čavić also commented on Dodik's announced referendum on joining NATO.

- Who is inviting us to NATO, is there an official invitation? We can discuss everything, but how much longer can Dodik push us into conflicts, until when? Does the action of free people make sense if it continues like this? We are all hostages of one man, his party is captured, but we are free from SNSD and must no longer be hostages of such politics. In this country, only Dodik and his cronies are allowed to boast. He has completely lost himself in time and space. I pity the people who stood behind him, listening blankly to what he was saying.

The president of PDP, Branislav Borenović, holds the same view regarding the auditor's resignation.

- The auditor must not resign, but should continue to do his job. It is obvious that they are hurt by the truth, which is as it is – which speaks of the results of the government's work. We are convinced that he will not be dismissed and that he will remain a symbol of the fight against something that brings good to RS. This is an attack on the institutions of RS, because this is the last institution that works independently, professionally, in accordance with the law – said Borenović.

The president of SDS, Vukota Govedarica, also stood up in defense of Šnjegota.

- I call on Mr. Šnjegota to continue his work and not to submit any resignation. It is obvious that he is a man who works according to the principles of independence and according to all international standards. We will fight so that he is not dismissed. I am ready to fight in that Parliament, and whoever is stronger can dismiss Mr. Šnjegota – said Govedarica.

Govedarica wondered what Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik was afraid of.

- What is Dodik afraid of? Should we talk about the state of the RS budget, should we talk about how much banks have consumed citizens' money in Republika Srpska? It's no problem, let them do what they want, and we will propose interpellations. But one day Dodik will no longer be president. Then RS will be a state that will enable members of parliament to discuss all topics that the Rules of Procedure allow – emphasized Govedarica.
