Opposition in RS blocks the work of the National Assembly of RS

Deputies of the opposition in the National Assembly of RS threatened tonight to physically prevent the work of the parliament due to non-compliance with the law and the constitution, BN TV reported.

One of the opposition deputies told the Patria agency that the opposition will do everything to prevent the violation of the rules of procedure and laws, which the ruling parties have done so far.

„We will not allow the work of the Assembly to be conducted in this way as long as the law is not respected and as long as the report of the General Service for the Audit of the Public Sector of RS is not put on the agenda. You have in the most brutal way prevented us from discussing one of the key documents – the audit report – said NDP deputy Dragan Čavić tonight.

After a day-long debate in which opposition deputies warned that the rules of procedure and the law had been violated, they announced tonight that they „will no longer allow work to be conducted in the National Assembly of RS in this way“.

„There will be no more such work and no more rape of democracy", said Čavić, stating that the opposition will prevent it in all possible ways, as long as you do not provide answers to deputies' questions within the prescribed period and as long as you do not respect the law and behave as befits a parliament“, said Čavić.  

Nenad Stevandić, Vice-President of the National Assembly of RS, who was chairing the assembly, reacted by calling a half-hour break, but the opposition deputies stood in the area where the parliamentary leadership is located to prevent the undemocratic work of the parliament, NAP reports.
