SARAJEVO, (Patria) - At least 11 people have died in multiple tornado strikes in parts of the Midwestern United States, officials announced today.
The storms destroyed the roof of a crowded venue during a heavy metal concert in Illinois and devastated several small and large towns across the region.
Strong winds felled trees, power poles, ripped off roofs and demolished walls. A forest fire broke out in the southern plains of the American Midwest, and a blizzard formed north of the area, AP reported.
Victims were registered in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Mississippi, and the Little Rock area.
In Belvidere, Illinois, a tornado destroyed the roof of the Apollo Theater while 260 people were attending a heavy metal concert, killing one person and injuring 28, five of them seriously, officials said.
Lisa Powell Carter, a member of the Vina town council, said the town, about 80 kilometers west of Memphis, Tennessee, was without power and the roads were full of debris.
New storms formed just hours after President Joseph Biden visited the community of Rolling Fork in Mississippi, where parts of the town were destroyed by a tornado strike last week.
