Minister Osmanović and Mayor Fazlić sign agreement to provide housing for veterans

(Patria) - Minister for Veterans' Affairs of Sarajevo Canton Omer Osmanović and Mayor of the Municipality of Ilijaš Akif Fazlić today signed an agreement on resolving the housing issue for people from the veteran population, through their temporary accommodation in housing units owned by this municipality. The apartments will be renovated beforehand with joint funds from the Ministry and the Municipality.

Given the identified need and common interest, Minister Osmanović held bilateral talks with the mayors of the Sarajevo Canton municipalities on the issue of resolving the housing needs of people from the veteran population, in the form of their temporary accommodation in housing units owned by the municipalities. The municipalities were also informed in writing about the potential cooperation.

Minister Osmanović took this opportunity to thank them for the long-standing and good cooperation with the Municipality of Ilijaš.

"When it comes to projects concerning the veteran population, both housing projects and those that preserve the culture of remembrance, I must point out that the Municipality of Ilijaš, led by Mayor Akif Fazlić, has been fully supporting all the initiatives we have put forward for some time now. Today we signed an agreement, which represents only the beginning of the aforementioned project, given that we will allocate additional funds for the renovation of housing units in the coming period. I thank Mayor Fazlić, who recognized the importance of this project and made municipal capacities available," said Minister Osmanović.

The Municipality of Ilijaš and the Ministry for Veterans' Affairs will allocate a total of 50,000 KM for the mentioned project, in a 50:50 ratio, for the renovation of existing residential buildings in Ilijaš.

"I am happy that we can actively and jointly engage in solving this problem, and I hope that we will realize this project as soon as possible. Our priority is certainly individuals from the veteran population who do not have resolved housing issues, to whom we will assign an apartment for rent, in accordance with legal procedures. Cooperation with the Ministry, led by Minister Osmanović, will continue next year, and our support for such projects is unquestionable," emphasized Mayor Fazlić.

In order to provide housing for the veteran population, the signing of agreements will continue with other municipalities in Sarajevo Canton.

The Ministry concluded the same agreement with the Municipality of Stari Grad a few days ago.
