Mijatović: In Banja Luka, awareness of BiH as a civic state is growing

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The only normal attitude if we want to build a state is that court decisions are not commented on, but implemented, said Vojin Mijatović, Vice-President of the Main Board of SDP BiH, for N1, commenting on the decision of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina which declared the Day of the RS unconstitutional.

Mijatović says that the government and the opposition in Republika Srpska are always "united in stupidity", including when it comes to the Constitutional Court's decision regarding January 9th.

"Instead of dealing with the ton of problems citizens have in this country, we are dealing with everything that divides us, or rather, everything that is controversial. I always claim that as long as our arguments come from the '90s, we will not be able to talk about the future of this country," said Mijatović.

Commenting on the opposition in RS, Mijatović says they have been "useful idiots of Milorad Dodik for many years".

According to him, Milorad Dodik and SNSD have been defeating the opposition for four election cycles.

"You can imagine what the opposition in RS is like when, it seems, only SDP will remain in the opposition," he stated.

Mijatović claims that SDP has made a breakthrough in Republika Srpska.

"Unfortunately, in the past 10 years, SDP has almost disappeared in RS because you have a peak of national tension that reached its boiling point in these elections. There is a real narrative that SDP relies exclusively on Bosniak votes, or rather, returning votes in RS. There are fewer and fewer of these people, almost none. We have now made a breakthrough, a good number of Serbs have joined SDP, especially in Banja Luka and that region. Now we are slowly stepping towards getting our share of the political market, and we have succeeded. In about six and a half months, we went from zero to one and a half thousand votes. Now SDP is a completely normal thing in Banja Luka, it was anathema until these elections. Awareness of a civic state of Bosnia and Herzegovina is slowly rising in Banja Luka," said Mijatović.
