Komšić in Livno: Croatia spends its money to impose an anti-civilizational Election Law in BiH

(Patria) - The President of the Republic of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar Kitarović, is once again lamenting, or rather, complaining to the world that the amendments to the Election Law in Bosnia and Herzegovina have not been made according to the political wishes of official Zagreb, said today in Livno the president of DF and candidate for member of the Presidency, Željko Komšić.

"Grabar Kitarović is rightly concerned. Zagreb has spent a lot of money to impose discriminatory and anti-civilizational provisions of the Election Law in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They have made great efforts to make unequal vote value official as a standard in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It has become pointless to ask them to stop interfering in the internal affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They would be better off returning the money they stole from BiH citizens, in this specific case from Croats, using the property and resources of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and this is particularly evident here, with the example of Buško Lake. The only thing we can tell them is that they will not succeed. They will never succeed in imposing that the vote of an HDZ Croat is three to four times more valuable than the vote of another Croat from Sarajevo, Tuzla, etc., or the vote of a Bosniak, a Serb. If that had any chance, they would have received support at the addresses where they lobbied for it with all their might," said Komšić.

He recalled the long struggle that took place regarding the amendments to the Election Law.

"Certain circles in Sarajevo were initially ready to agree to the demands of HDZ and Zagreb. These demands were nothing more than demands for the establishment of ethnic constituencies. In other words, it was about packaging a third entity or revitalizing Herceg Bosna. Only thanks to a part of the civic parties, thanks to responsible individuals and media, was this stopped. Unfortunately, many citizens do not know, because they are occupied with their daily problems, what a struggle was waged in this field, day after day. It will be known one day, and those who were ready at that time to meet HDZ and Zagreb – and give what cannot be given, because it would be a prelude to the disintegration of the state – will then say that stopping it was their merit. But so be it, that's not important. What is important regarding the amendments to the Election Law is that pro-Bosnian parties unite and push through their proposal, which is offered through the Law on Electoral Units, and which has the support of the Venice Commission and is in line with European and democratic standards, and that we do not allow Zagreb to draft our laws," concluded Komšić.
