(Patria) - The Bosniak Club in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska has initiated the vital national interest protection mechanism regarding the Law on Amendments to the Law on Referendum and Civic Initiative of RS and the Decision of the National Assembly of RS on calling a referendum, stated the President of the Bosniak Club in the National Assembly of RS, Alija Tabaković.
The Law stipulates that a referendum in RS can be conducted by the National Assembly of RS commission, or an ad hoc commission, and the Decision stipulates that the referendum will be held on October 25th with the referendum question: "Do you accept the decisions of the unelected foreigner Christian Schmidt and the verdicts of the unconstitutional Court of BiH against the President of RS, as well as the decision of the Central Election Commission on revoking the mandate of President RS Milorad Dodik?"
The Law and the Decision were adopted at the last special session of the National Assembly of RS seven days ago, following the decision of the Central Election Commission of BiH to revoke the mandate of Milorad Dodik as President of RS, and after the final verdict of the Court of BiH prohibiting Dodik from holding public office for the next six years.
"A detailed explanation of the reasons for initiating the vital national interest protection mechanism will be sent by the Club to the National Assembly of RS today due to the scheduled session. But, this is, above all, about common sense; no one can be placed above verdicts. Imagine if we now called a referendum and asked citizens if someone should be held accountable according to a verdict for being guilty of murder, rape, or anything else," says Tabaković.
Regarding the Law on Amendments to the Law on Referendum and Civic Initiative of RS, Tabaković says that the participation of constituent peoples in the commission is not defined.
"Our position is that this is an unconstitutional law and decision," adds Tabaković.
According to him, a session of the National Assembly of RS should now be held due to the initiation of the vital national interest protection mechanism.
"Apparently, this will go to the Constitutional Court of RS," concluded Tabaković.
