Horror in Colorado, six people and attacker killed

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - An armed attacker acting alone killed five and wounded two people, including a police officer, on Monday in the US state of Colorado, and then he himself was killed in a confrontation with the police, the US police announced.

The man shot at several locations in Denver and in nearby Lakewood from Monday afternoon, the police said at a late-night press conference.

The attacker first opened fire in a tattoo parlor in Denver, killing two women and wounding a man, the city police added on Tuesday. He then went to a house in Denver, where he shot and killed a man with a fatal shot.

After that, he headed to Lakewood, where he killed another man in another tattoo parlor, according to the police, after which he entered a hotel, where he fired several shots at a woman working at the reception, who succumbed to her injuries.

Thanks to information gathered from the first attack, the Lakewood police identified the perpetrator who intended to continue his bloody rampage. It is Lyndon James McLeod.

"Then there was another exchange of fire with our officers and the attacker was shot," said John Romero, spokesman for the Lakewood police, on Monday evening, adding that the perpetrator "was pronounced dead at the scene".

A Lakewood police officer who was hit in the exchange and who shot the attacker will undergo surgery, but is "doing well," Romero said on Tuesday.

"According to our information, it seems the attacker targeted specific individuals," the Denver police said.

Denver Police Chief Paul Pazen said investigators have not yet discovered the motive for the attack.

"We are at the beginning of the investigation," he said.

Shootings are a scourge that leaves numerous victims in the US, where the right to bear arms is guaranteed by the Constitution.
