Police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) arrested a person with initials A.O. (1968) in the Bihać area this morning on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of human trafficking, reports the Patria News Agency.
SIPA members searched the premises used by the aforementioned person with the aim of finding objects and traces that could serve as evidence in further proceedings. The aforementioned activities were carried out under the orders of the Court of BiH and the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, it was announced from SIPA.
Through the conducted investigative actions, it was determined that A.O. had "bought" the victim of human trafficking and then held her in a state of slavery for a period of more than two years, and by using force and other forms of coercion, forced her to beg daily and bring him the money obtained in this way, exposing her to daily physical, psychological and sexual violence.
The victim is an adult female with a mild mental disability, and she is currently being adequately cared for.
In the previous period, SIPA submitted a report on the committed criminal offense and perpetrators to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH against several persons in this case, and through the conducted investigative actions, the illegal activities of the suspects were determined.
The arrested person will be brought to SIPA's official premises where criminal processing will be carried out, after which they will be handed over to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH for further proceedings, and SIPA will continue further activities in this case until its conclusion.
