Forto in Washington: We must get the railway infrastructure moving

(Patria) - Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Edin Forto, is staying in Washington, where he is participating in the Annual Meeting of the World Bank in the capacity of Deputy Governor of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During meetings with the leadership of the World Bank, Minister Forto will discuss new investments, especially in the modernization of railway infrastructure, which is the next strategic priority of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"Thanks to our persistence and joint efforts, the World Bank recently approved financing for the construction of the Foča–Šćepan Polje road – a key project that, after more than four decades, will finally enable the construction of the Foča-Šćepan Polje road, i.e., connect Sarajevo with Podgorica and further to Tirana. This is paralleled by the construction of a new interstate bridge over the Tara, financed by the Ministry of Communications and Transport of BiH and the Ministry of Transport of Montenegro, where the selection of a contractor is expected soon.

Together, we have finally moved the story of connecting Sarajevo and Podgorica forward. Now we must also get the railway moving – because without modern railways, there is no development," said Minister Forto.
