Bosniak Party: Let the public judge whose interests Abazović serves

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Democratic Montenegro should be the backbone of the new government, as their election result gives them legitimacy, and in that sense, they will have the support of the Bosniak Party (BS), the BS announced.

The party said they expect Democrats to be supported by other pro-European and civic political factors.

"This would create the necessary pro-European two-thirds majority in parliament, which would unblock certain processes and certainly create conditions for comprehensive social reform, strengthening of institutions and the rule of law in order to reach European standards," the BS stated.

The party believes that it is not realistic for the announced expert government to be realized in practice, given numerous circumstances.

"But if it happens anyway, we would support such an idea too," the party said.

According to them, due to the current situation caused by the coronavirus, the question arises how and in what way such a government would continue numerous initiated and planned capital state projects.

The BS said it will be interesting to see how the parliamentary clubs of the future convocation in the Assembly will be formed, given that pre-election coalitions are composed of heterogeneous political factors with different programmatic and other goals.

"All of this will significantly affect further processes, and certainly the formation of the executive power," the BS assessed.

The party said that through their work in the previous period, they have shown that they do not trade state interests and that there is no bargaining around key, strategic goals.

They recalled that they were not part of the ruling majority, nor the government, after the independence referendum in 2006, although they fully and unreservedly supported the restoration of Montenegro's independence, according to the Montenegrin agency MINA.

"Also, the memory from 2012 and 2016 is fresh, when we refused the offer of the Democratic Front to be the backbone of the government or to lead the entire government," the party said.

The Bosniak Party, as they stated, has never been a satellite of the Democratic Party of Socialists or any other party, but a sincere partner in achieving key state and national interests.

"However, let the general public judge whose interests Dritan Abazović serves, who, with four parliamentary mandates, presents himself as the 'liberator' of Montenegro," the BS stated.

The party thanked all citizens of Montenegro who supported them in the recently held parliamentary elections and clearly indicated the direction in which civic Montenegro wants to continue.

"The best result since the founding of the party, the support of members of the Bosniak-Muslim people, is confirmation that we have pursued politics correctly, guided primarily by state and national interests," the BS said.

They emphasized that they have achieved significant results with their coalition partners, some of which are historic for Montenegro.

This, as they stated, is confirmation that the coalition to which the Bosniak Party belonged has truly led Montenegro forward on the path of European and Euro-Atlantic integration, as a stable civic, multi-religious, and multinational community of its peoples.

"The achieved level of integration of minorities into institutions, established mechanisms of proportional representation, projects that open new perspectives for regional development, are just some of the realized programmatic goals of the Bosniak Party," the party concluded.
