Bećirović in Washington: BiH has not failed, great-power projects have failed

(Patria) - Member of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović spoke in Washington with Congresswoman Ann Wagner, a member of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the U.S. House of Representatives and a Republican representative from the state of Missouri.

Bećirović thanked Congresswoman Wagner for her long-standing and consistent support for the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as for her commitment to strengthening the partnership between the U.S. and Bosnia and Herzegovina. He emphasized that strong American leadership remains of key importance for preserving the security and political stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The member of the BiH Presidency underlined that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a successful project and one of the oldest states in Southeast Europe. The thesis of certain lobbyists that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a "failed state" is misplaced and meaningless. Such disgusting propaganda represents a disregard for the historical context and factual situation. It is an ignorance of all the positive things that have been built with the help of the U.S. and the West, from renewed infrastructure, through the introduction of a single currency, customs, judiciary, unified Armed Forces of BiH, to the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina is today also a formal candidate for membership in the EU and NATO.

During the meeting, Bećirović pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina offers significant economic opportunities for American companies, especially in the fields of energy and infrastructure. He emphasized the importance of the Southern Gas Interconnection project as a key infrastructural and energy project that contributes to the energy security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the diversification of supply sources, and the strengthening of the strategic partnership with the U.S.

The member of the BiH Presidency pointed to the importance of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian diaspora in the U.S., especially in the state of Missouri, emphasizing that it represents a strong link between the two countries and an important potential for strengthening political, economic, and social ties. In this context, Bećirović expressed special gratitude to Congresswoman Wagner for her strong and concrete support for the Bosnian-Herzegovinian diaspora in the U.S.

Congresswoman Wagner confirmed strong support for an independent, sovereign, and democratic Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing the importance of continuing reform processes and strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
