US soldiers trained members of the BiH Armed Forces, Ambassador Nelson also attended

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - As part of the partnership between the Maryland National Guard and the Armed Forces of BiH, members of the 175th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron of the Maryland National Guard Air Force held medical training for members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

These training programs provide members of the BiH Armed Forces with the opportunity to become acquainted with the military methods and operational techniques of the US armed forces, with the aim of providing assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina in achieving its security objectives, the US Embassy in BiH announced.

The Ambassador of the United States of America to BiH, Eric Nelson, met today with Colonel Zdravko Rezo, commander of the 4th Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of BiH, and soldiers from the brigade, and attended part of the training.

"Today is my first visit to the Armed Forces of BiH. All citizens of BiH should be very proud of an institution like the Armed Forces of BiH," said Ambassador Nelson.

He added that today he had the opportunity to see part of the training in the field of providing medical assistance in emergency situations.

"This is a form of support that members of the National Guard of the state of Maryland provide to members of the BiH Armed Forces. In the past few weeks, lecturers have been working here to improve their skills in responding to crisis situations. This type of training is very important and helps Bosnia and Herzegovina to be an effective partner in our joint efforts to respond to the threat that terrorism poses worldwide; BiH Armed Forces units, in missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, have been of great help. At the same time, the BiH Armed Forces are of great help in preserving security here in BiH. These skills, in the field of providing medical assistance in emergency situations, are part of the security activities that the Armed Forces of BiH provide to the citizens of BiH. I am very pleased to have had the opportunity to see them in action," said Ambassador Nelson.
