
(Patria) - The creation of a parallel electoral system by the RS Government would be unconstitutional and anti-Dayton, and would deprive RS voters of fundamental democratic rights guaranteed to them by the BiH Constitution.
This was stated by the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in response to the announced adoption of the RS Election Law in the entity assembly, which will be discussed at a session next week.
"Any elections conducted under an unconstitutional, parallel electoral system would lack legitimacy, and those involved in their organization would be engaged in anti-democratic, unconstitutional, and anti-Dayton activities.
The United States has been clear that it is prepared to respond to anti-Dayton actions by local actors, and that it supports the High Representative's actions to do the same.

Milorad Dodik is wrong if he thinks the US will stand by while he pursues his secessionist agenda and pushes BiH towards conflict.
Any attempt at secession by an entity or any other sub-state unit is an anti-Dayton activity that will not be tolerated.
Republika Srpska is an entity within the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is an integral part of the state, and neither RS nor the Federation exist outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The BiH Constitution does not grant an entity or any other sub-state unit the right to secession," the US Embassy in our country stated.
