Autoceste hired 30 new workers, 500 million stuck, construction halted!

SDP President Nermin Niksic publicly addressed leaders of SDA and HDZ Bakir Izetbegovic and Dragan Covic, asking them how come that the construction of highway has been on hold for a year and a half now. At this moment, there are 500 million KM ready for investing.

- They have a closed tender and all they need to do is to select a contractor for delivery of works for the part of the road Pocitelj – Medjugorje. That is all on hold because SDA and HDZ are still arguing about top positions in public company Autoceste.

Dragan and Bakir are directly responsible for this, and this will negatively impact all citizens because investing 500 million KM for FBiH means thousands of jobs, GDP growth and growth of funds in general, said Niksic.

It is unclear why the construction has not started in the past year; not one meter of the new highway has been built, and there is no logical explanation for that by Autoceste. At this moment, there are at least 500 million KM ready for investing but SDA and HDZ blocked everything due to their fighting for share of top positions in the company. At the same time, while public company Autoceste are not doing anything related to the highway construction, this company has hired over 30 new employees over the past 5 months, and outside of recruitment procedures.

- Who are those people and what are they doing? They are not working on the highway, that is for sure. If they could just focus their energies on moving ahead with public works and investments instead of hiring, retirement fund would have a better revenue, concluded SDP.
