
(Patria) - Today is declared a Day of Mourning in Republika Srpska on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the crimes against Serbs in central Podrinje and Birč, during which 3,267 Serbs perished. A special remembrance program will be held in Bratunac.
The Government of Republika Srpska made the decision to declare the Day of Mourning. Flags at all institutions will be flown at half-mast, and cultural events will be cancelled. Sporting events will be adjusted to this day.
A memorial service for the fallen will be led by Serbian Patriarch Porfirije. The commemoration, titled "Lest We Forget," will be attended by the highest officials of Republika Srpska and Serbia.
Following the liturgy, a procession is planned from the Temple to the city and military cemetery in Bratunac. A memorial service will be held at noon, wreaths and flowers will be laid, after which officials will address the attendees.
