Three decades later: Instead of justice, the case is sent to Serbia, which hides perpetrators from BiH, the Prosecutor's Office still without an indictment for the siege

Today marks 32 years since one of the hardest days in besieged Sarajevo.

Today is the day we remember, November 10, 1993, the day the city bled again.

Three 82mm mortar shells were fired from the positions of the Army of Republika Srpska, from the area of Nedžarići. They hit the streets of Žrtava fašizma and Ilija Engel where people lived, walked, carried bread, talked, perhaps just tried to feel that life still existed.

Everything on the children's playground hinted at life and joy. And then, in an instant, everything stopped.

Elma Geko, Slavojka Govedarica, Semir Haseta, Amina Hećo, Ajdin Hodžić, Ibrahim Huskić, Vinko Lončar, Silvijo Mačorović, and Božidar Šuko – nine of them did not survive.

Thirty-eight Sarajevans were wounded. They, as well as the families of the murdered, are still waiting for justice today!

These are not just numbers; they are names, faces, families, childhoods that did not reach their dreams. Among the wounded are those who celebrate this day as their second birthday!

For this crime, as for many others committed against Sarajevo, justice has remained unfulfilled. Because there is simply no indictment for the siege of Sarajevo.

Specifically, the direct perpetrator of this criminal act has never been found. And this text is not about self-pity, but a cry to those who do not perform their duties honorably. They are currently in the Prosecutor's Office of BiH. All of them!

Now, even closer to the absurd. SIPA, three decades later, only interviewed one witness last year, seeking consent from survivors to send the case to Serbia, the country where the perpetrators fled and which refuses to extradite them.

"Such 'justice' hurts me as much as the shells did," says a witness, a boy at the time, a grown man today who is waiting for justice.

The verdicts against Galić, Milošević, and Mladić are steps, but not enough. Justice is not only in prisons; it is in the truth.

In the fact that this is talked about, that it is not forgotten, that every November 10th, but also on all other days, people speak out and seek the truth.

Because if we forget, who will remember them? If we fall silent, who will tell the truth?
