Gavrankapetanović's fate to be known in five days: Government forms commission to 'scrutinize' KCUS director appointment

Prof. dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović was not appointed General Director of the University Clinical Center Sarajevo even on the second attempt by the FBiH Government, because the relevant minister Nediljko Rimac simply does not give his consent to this appointment.

The Ministry persistently claims that Gavrankapetanović had incomplete documentation, while the FBiH Government insists on his appointment.

Ismet Gavrankapetanović was elected General Director of the University Clinical Center Sarajevo at the session of the Management Board on December 28, but his appointment has not been confirmed to this day.

Therefore, yesterday, it seems, the FBiH Government decided to make a decision. Namely, a commission has been appointed which, within the next five days, is to review the appointment procedures, as well as Gavrankapetanović's documentation.

Željko Škarica, Chief Federal Administrative Inspector, is the president of the commission, and the members are Benjamin Kulovac, member of the KCUS Management Board, Srđan Mikić, Assistant Director of the Legislative Office, Belma Trajkov, advisor to the Minister of Education, and Dijana Smailagić, Assistant Secretary of the FBiH Government.

Thus, in the next five days, Gavrankapetanović's fate will be known as to whether he will head KCUS or not. The commission will submit its report to the FBiH Government.

Let us remind you, Sebija Izetbegović was at the head of KCUS, who left this position in November 2023.

The position of Acting General Director is currently held by Alen Pilav. He is close to the SDP, so different stories circulated regarding Gavrankapetanović's appointment, in a way that this is another conflict between NIP and SDP.

Gavrankapetanović is a proposal from a part of NIP, as not all members of this party were in favor of his appointment.
