Horrific accident in Dalmatia: BMW crashed into a gas station, driver burned to death, several people injured

(Patria) - Split police received a report of a fire at a gas station on the A1 highway - Mosor Jug rest area at around 5:45 PM today.

"According to initial information, the fire broke out after a vehicle hit a fuel dispenser. Emergency services have arrived at the scene and are responding," the police stated.

- A large black cloud of smoke can be seen, hovering above the gas station," a reader reported to Dalmacija Danas, revealing that the incident likely occurred around 5:45 PM.

Incidentally, the accident site is located between the Dugopolje and Blato na Cetini junctions, near Trnbusi.

Slobodna Dalmacija reports that one person burned to death in the vehicle that hit the dispenser, while three people were injured and transported to KBC Split.

The same media outlet reports that the driver of the BMW that hit the dispenser died.

It is too early to discuss the causes of the accident, whether the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, as the investigation has not yet begun, since the fire was only just extinguished. Several vehicles were damaged.
