(Patria) - Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesić announced tonight that he is resigning from that position.
- Tomorrow morning I will officially submit my resignation from the position of Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure. I am resigning as a responsible person, aware that this tragedy should not have happened - Vesić said at an emergency press conference.
He also stated that he offered his resignation to the Prime Minister of Serbia, Miloš Vučević, on the same day, and informed the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, of his intention.
Vesić's resignation came after the canopy at the Novi Sad Railway Station collapsed on Friday, November 1, resulting in the deaths of 14 people, including children.
Since that day, citizens have been demanding accountability from those responsible, and at a protest on Sunday, they also called for the immediate resignation of Goran Vesić.
