SNSD-HDZ-TROJKA Formula for the Internal Degradation of the State of BiH

By: A. Čorbo-Zećo

History persistently shows that states do not fall solely under the impact of external forces. Invasions, sanctions, and external pressures rarely bring a final result if there is no internal weakness within society.

The key to destabilization simply comes from within, through domestic actors willing to put foreign interests ahead of state and national ones.

The examples are numerous and instructive. The fall of the Roman Empire was not only the result of barbarian invasions but also of internal weaknesses such as corruption, political intrigue, and rifts in power. Colonial powers calculated for centuries on domestic elites who collaborated, from India and Africa to Southeast Asia. In modern history, the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1992 was not violently imposed from the outside but resulted from a political decision within the country.

Even in today's Ukraine, internal divisions facilitate the actions of external powers.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is facing a similar scenario today. The political construct of SNSD–HDZ–Trojka functions as a mechanism for the internal blockade of the state.

SNSD openly dismantles state institutions and denies the state, HDZ uses institutional crises to strengthen ethnic divisions, while Trojka, under the guise of compromise and pragmatism, legitimizes policies that weaken Bosnia and Herzegovina in the long run.

What makes this formula particularly dangerous is the hidden nature of the degradation. It does not come spectacularly but creeps in quietly, through citizen apathy and the dilution of responsibility.

The state is not collapsing explosively; it is being exhausted, blocked, and rendered meaningless. Milorad Dodik himself often confirms this, emphasizing that he does not want conflict and that peace is a priority while simultaneously achieving his long-term goals.

However, history also teaches us another lesson: no formula of destruction is eternal. States do not disappear because of external enemies but because of internal consent to weakness.

The moment citizens and political actors stop consenting to degradation, any "formula" ceases to work.
