Following trends means being able to create them as well. In this regard, the Center for Advanced Technologies from Sarajevo very successfully understands the needs of civilian drones and unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as a whole range of technologies in whose research they are pioneers in BiH.
From fuel cells to laser rangefinders, in very modest conditions, the Center for Advanced Technologies has mastered, in addition to drones, the construction and platform of electric vehicles.
At this year's BiH Economy Fair, CNT exhibited their latest models of multirotors (hexacopters and octocopters), as well as a prototype of the new CNT-2200 drone.
As they say from the Center, the purpose of this drone with these performance characteristics under development is to create the prerequisites for adopting a larger and more powerful model that would be in the category of larger drones.
They had no information on further specifications of the new drone, except that its wingspan will be up to 12 meters, which means it is an unmanned aerial vehicle that will require a significantly more powerful engine but also have a greater payload capacity.
For comparison, the Turkish Bayraktar TB-2 also has a 12-meter wingspan, but its purpose is exclusively military, i.e., combat.
With a new airfoil and a small propeller engine and an initial range of six kilometers, the CNT-2200 represents the best platform for further development and evolution of the entire program.
Of course, it should be noted that this is a prototype whose control, capabilities, and performance will be further developed with the possibility of further advancement.
Additionally, the development of octocopters and hexacopters is significant, as they are now capable of carrying from 10 to 30 kilograms of payload, and also have the ability to integrate a whole range of sensors and devices.
Primarily, these include thermal and video cameras, special metal scanning devices for demining operations, as well as other specialized equipment and devices.
The development of multirotors and the proliferation of their use was best demonstrated during the Ukraine-Russia war, when the doctrine of using ground forces was actually applied, transferring ever greater capabilities and possibilities from soldiers to multirotors.
In the domain of multirotor capabilities, CNT presented the CNT-1750 model with six motors, which, with a thrust of 900 Newtons, should be capable of carrying up to 30 kilograms of payload.
In addition to significant payload capacity, the CNT-1750 model has integrated two channels for video transmission in Full HD resolution, while this model has a range of 12 kilometers.
Ultimately, it should be said that all the exhibited prototypes are just the beginning of development, which, given the invested resources, has achieved excellent results.
CNT is unique in its intention to work together with other interested parties, i.e., institutions, on further development, in cooperation with companies from the defense industry in BiH.
An example of this is the development of the "red dot," i.e., the Red dot optical sight, which CNT is jointly developing with the Technical Overhaul Institute Hadžići.
It should be noted that CNT cannot independently develop military equipment and weapons without cooperation with a company from the defense industry.
What is additionally encouraging is CNT's cooperation with faculties in BiH, which actually reflects the intention to practically apply acquired knowledge in quality working laboratory conditions in practice.
