Former Montenegrin Minister of Defence Predrag Bošković arrested on SDT order

(Patria) - Former Minister of Defence and Democratic Party of Socialists MP Predrag Bošković was arrested this morning on the order of the Special State Prosecutor's Office of Montenegro.

He was arrested as part of an investigation against businessman Aleksandar Mijajlović.

By decision of the investigating judge, businessman Aleksandar Mijajlović and former police officer Drago Spičanović were ordered into custody for up to 30 days, prosecutor Andrijana Nastić had her travel documents confiscated, and police officer Vladan Lazović and former police official Milovan Pavićević were ordered to remain in their apartments. This was announced to RTCG by Ivana Vukmirović, advisor for public relations at the High Court.

Unofficially, the SDT accuses them of acting against the security system and forming a criminal organization.

The SDT has not yet commented on this matter.

When asked about the official charges against the defendants, lawyer Marko Radović told TVCG that the accusations concern the formation of a criminal organization.

"The defendants are charged with the criminal offense of forming a criminal organization, under Article 401a, paragraph 2 in conjunction with paragraph 1. Specifically, my client Vladan Lazović is charged with the criminal offense from paragraph 2, meaning as a member of a criminal organization, and two more criminal offenses are attributed to him - disclosure of secret information under Article 369 of the Criminal Code. Given that the investigation is secret, I cannot tell you more, except for these legal qualifications," Radović stated for TVCG.

As he pointed out, it can be said that this is a very specific case.

"Formally and legally speaking, in terms of legal qualifications and the severity of the penalties for these criminal offenses, or rather the legal qualifications, I can say that these are relatively serious accusations, but, looking at it from a practical and factual perspective, without intending to sound condescending or pretentious, however you want to put it, these are bizarre accusations. In that sense, I can say that this is one of the most specific cases I have handled so far. Colleagues with much longer careers in law share this view. It is, I can freely say, an experiment that, I hope, will not gain affirmation in the form of an indictment, let alone a conviction," Radović emphasized.
