These are no longer accidental but staged outbursts: Nešić's mandate seems to be to humiliate BiH institutions!

By Delvin Kovač

Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nenad Nešić, who is not really one, as his actions prove otherwise, has accustomed us to shameful, scandalous, and extremely inappropriate behavior.

A native of Sarajevo, without a shred of shame, he has recently "gained fame" in public by defiantly raising three fingers and engaging in Serb/Chetnik rhetoric wherever he appears. With his thoughtless actions and inflammatory statements, mostly in and about the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, he has incurred the wrath of most Bosnians and Herzegovinians. And why wouldn't he, when he openly speaks and advocates against the state of which he is a high-ranking official and the head of one of its most important institutions. Unlike Nešić, for example, one of his predecessors as Minister of Security, Dragan Mektić, also from the Serb people, never questioned the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina during his tenure.

In the latest, not accidental but previously staged outburst, Nešić boasted on social media about cheering for the Serbian national basketball team, in the premises of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and during working hours. On the TV screen, the match between Serbia and Lithuania, in the company of his friends and the Serbian flag, without a single symbol of the state for which he should advocate and fight.

The minister, who realistically does not know how to perform this function, let alone deserves to, having ended up there by chance, was recently bothered by the fact that some employees of the Ministry of Bosniak nationality went to perform Friday prayers. So, one Friday in May, with the sound of the adhan, accompanied by his advisors and bodyguards, he decided to tour the offices and list all present and absent. Clearly, with the intention of imposing strict discipline and inciting fear and hatred towards everything that is not Serbian.

Cheering for Serbia is, of course, not any spectacular intelligence of Nenad Nešić, who is actually just fulfilling what he receives as an order from his political boss Milorad Dodik. The undermining of Bosnia and Herzegovina's institutions somehow began with Dodik's four-year inglorious tenure in the building of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and, let's remember, by disrespecting the state flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina. And then Dodik, in his swaggering manner, continued by bringing accordion players and getting drunk in the premises of the collective head of state.

It is worth recalling that Nešić, although a political marginal figure, had previously been Dodik's coalition partner, until a sudden breakdown occurred. And right up until the start of the General Elections in 2022, the current minister of (in)security of Bosnia and Herzegovina used every possible opportunity to skillfully criticize Dodik. But after the elections, he turned his coat and started praising him to the skies. Of course, because after being the director of "Putevi Rs" from 2016 to 2020, the separatist, in return for one or two parliamentary votes, gave him another offer that cannot be refused – the top position in the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina. And this with the approval of the SDP BiH, People and Justice, and Our Party, Dodik's partners from the Federation of BiH framed within the Trojka.

The love is mutual as long as it lasts, both Nešić and Dodik know this very well. The former will blindly fulfill all the demands that the latter forwards from the third one, as long as it benefits him. And that third one is the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić – it should be repeated once again – a man who, during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, walked the slopes of Sarajevo with a rifle hanging over his shoulder, accompanied by his political father and war criminal Vojislav Šešelj. And the undermining and derogation of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dodik's pawn Nešić has learned this by heart, is one of the items from the document he must blindly follow – the SANU Memorandum 2 of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.

In the Trojka, as expected, they are silent again – not a single word about Nešić's new scandalous glorification of Serbdom in the middle of Sarajevo. The Trojka members are not bothered by the belittling or undermining of the state institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is, of course, not surprising, considering that they themselves installed Nešić in what we can now freely call, in this mandate, the Serbian Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Because, as one of the leaders of the Trojka, the one from People and Justice, would say, they will not raise disputes within the coalition with HDZ and SNSD over issues on which they do not have agreement. And agreement to remove the anti-Bosnian Nenad Nešić from the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina is unlikely to be obtained even in their dreams from their partner and separatist from Laktaši, Milorad Dodik.

The Trojka is clumsily trying to wash themselves clean by claiming they gave nothing to anyone. But by appointing Srđan Amidžić from SNSD as Nešić's colleague in the Council of Ministers of BiH, did the Trojka not hand over the entire financial sector of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Milorad Dodik for management? Amidžić came to the position of Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH instead of Dodik's Zoran Tegeltija, who took over the Indirect Taxation Authority (UIO) of BiH, despite the claims of another Trojka member, the one from SDP BiH, that he had no intention of ceding that position to SNSD under any circumstances.

The three-fingered Nenad Nešić will undoubtedly continue to tarnish our only homeland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as minister and spread intolerance and insecurity among its citizens. The separatist Milorad Dodik will certainly not give up on breaking up Bosnia and Herzegovina and his plans to secede the RS. And what do their ideologically bankrupt coalition partners from Sarajevo intend to do? They will probably continue to cowardly retreat from the daily assaults from the RS, without ambitions and an adequate plan for the defense of the state, like the one that the resourceful Bosnian and Bosniak patriots of the 90s, though unarmed, managed to devise in a relatively short period and successfully resist one of the leading military powers in Europe.
