Osmani confirmed: Kenya recognized Kosovo

(Patria) - The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, confirmed that Kenya recognized Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state with a decision signed by President William Ruto.

"The Republic of Kosovo welcomes the decision of the Republic of Kenya to recognize Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state, through a decision signed by President Ruto and officially sent to the Presidency a few days ago.

This recognition is a testament to the continued support for the right of the people of Kosovo to freedom, independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. At the same time, it is also a recognition of the long suffering and centuries-old sacrifice of the people of Kosovo for freedom," Osmani wrote on her Facebook profile.

On behalf of the institutions and citizens of Kosovo, she expressed gratitude to the President of Kenya for "this just and important decision, as well as to the Kenyan institutions and citizens who supported this great diplomatic step".

She stated that Kosovo continues to progress on the path of integration and strengthening its international position, adding that relations between Kosovo and Kenya are deepening in various areas, so they expect the very soon establishment of diplomatic relations, building a strong and long-lasting partnership between the two countries and peoples.

Kenya is the 105th of the 193 UN member states to recognize Kosovo. Given that Russia and China, two permanent members of the Security Council, have not recognized Pristina, Kosovo is still not part of the UN.
