RTS blockade ended: Students announce their demand has been met

(Patria) - Students who were blocking RTS announced on social media that their demand has been met with the announcement of a new tender for the Council of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) and that they are suspending the RTS blockade.

"A new tender for the REM Council has been announced. With that, the RTS blockade is over after 14 days. The ćevabdžinica is open again," wrote the FDU students on the social network X.

We remind you that today at 4:00 PM, the session of the parliamentary Committee on Culture and Information began, at which, after three hours of deliberation, the Decision on initiating the procedure for proposing candidates for the election of members of the REM Council was voted on.

Serbian media report that the students reacted to the news from the Committee session with noise, banging, and chanting "The tender has been announced, RTS is free".

One of the students addressed the gathered citizens and thanked them for their support.

- Dear citizens, bikers, and everyone else, thank you for all the support you have given us all these days. We call on you to redirect all your energy now to supporting our colleagues in Novi Sad, until all student demands are met - said the student.

Students are gathering tables, banners, and waving faculty flags. Takovska Street is still closed to traffic.
