GAS PIPELINE THREAT? Police and army search terrain in Kanjiža, Vučić spoke with Orbán and confirmed explosives found

(Patria) - Members of the Serbian police and army are searching terrain in the municipality of Kanjiža, looking for prohibited substances dangerous to citizens' lives and parts of vital infrastructure.

As RTS learns, with the approval of the Public Prosecutor's Office in Subotica, members of the Criminal Police Directorate, together with Military Police and other units of the Serbian Army, have been engaged since the early morning hours in blocking and searching a part of the territory in the municipality of Kanjiža, in search of prohibited substances dangerous to citizens' lives.

Police and army members have blocked several road routes in that municipality.

Roads from the village of Trešnjevac towards the village of Vojvoda Zimonjić are blocked, as well as the road from the village of Vojvoda Zimonjić towards the village of Velebit.

Police and army are searching the terrain on the Trešnjevac-Vojvoda Zimonjić route, as well as on the route towards the village of Velebit.

The search is being conducted in combination from the ground, with control and coordination from the air. Helicopters are flying over the terrain.

All available forces of the UKP and VS are on the ground, including the 72nd Special Brigade.

Helicopters, drones, sniffer dogs, thermal imaging, counter-sabotage teams, ambulances, and equipment are engaged.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić also commented, having spoken by phone with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, informing him about the initial results of the investigation by military and police bodies regarding the endangerment of critical gas infrastructure connecting Serbia and Hungary.

"Our units have found explosives of destructive power and detonators necessary for their activation. I told Prime Minister Orbán that we will keep him informed about the further course of the investigation," Vučić stated on his Instagram profile.
