Mandić: Montenegro would blame the entire Serbian people by supporting the Resolution on Srebrenica, I am interested in what Spajić thinks about it

(Patria) - The President of the Montenegrin Assembly, Andrija Mandić, believes that Montenegro would blame the entire Serbian people by voting for the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica.

Mandić stated on his X account that he has not heard Prime Minister Milojko Spajić announce that Montenegro will support the Resolution.

"The truth is that his interlocutor from Berlin announced it, but what interests me and the entire public of Montenegro is what Prime Minister Spajić thinks about it.

I know it's not easy for him. Great powers pressure small countries, and according to unwritten rules of geopolitics, they must 'listen'. Unfortunately, that is today's 'just' international order," Mandić states.

To make matters worse, he adds, Spajić is facing pressure not only from outside but also from within.

"We even had a reaction from the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, who states that Montenegro 'has its own positions' on this issue. I assume he wants to remind of the previously adopted Declaration in the Parliament of Montenegro.

A lot has happened from then until the election of the President of Montenegro, and it should not be forgotten that the Serbian people decided those very elections," Mandić conveyed.

Mandić expects Spajić to "carefully assess the situation and take into account the vital interests of the country and the people living in it".

"If Montenegro did not have respect, tradition, its pride and dignity, it would not exist today. By voting for the Resolution, Montenegro would blame the entire Serbian people.

It is encouraging that the PES parliamentary group has already announced that they do not accept that an entire people be blamed for genocide. We welcome their decision and clear message, because the greatest world and especially Jewish authorities on the issue of genocide have established that the crime in Srebrenica cannot be treated in this way," Mandić emphasized.

He also added that he does not believe "that Spajić can accept that the entire Serbian people are genocidal because that would mean a verdict for all Serbs in Montenegro".

"To convict a large part of one's own people would be not only unacceptable but also morally unsustainable. I truly believe that Spajić does not think that Serbs are a genocidal people, because I don't see why he would sign a coalition agreement on cooperation with representatives of a supposedly 'genocidal people'.
