RTS building blockade continues, some employees address students

(Patria) - Students have been blocking the buildings of Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) in Takovska Street and Radio Television of Vojvodina in Novi Sad since last night. Strong police forces are present in the buildings, and the situation is calm, with protesters chanting "Pumpaj, pumpaj" (Pump it, pump it).

The immediate reason for the blockade was a statement by an RTS journalist who called the students a mob during a conversation with the President of Serbia.

An incident occurred in front of the RTS building in the center of Belgrade last night when the Gendarmerie broke through the human chain of students blocking the entrances to the Public Service broadcaster.

Students in Belgrade are stationed at three points – in Takovska Street, where a tent was also set up during the night, and two points at the entrances in Aberdareva Street, where incidents and shoving with the police occurred during the blockade.

A portion of RTS employees, who had to enter the building through the basement this morning, also addressed the students.

"Good day, we are RTS workers. We are here to defend the honor and reputation of our house and profession. With the same intention, we know that the students are with us and we have supported them from the first day. We call on all colleagues to join us," they stated in front of RTS.

These are employees who are part of the informal group "Naš protest" (Our Protest).
