"I don't believe in Donald Trump's victory, he has lost. He would be a disaster for the Balkans. He would hand over BiH to Belgrade, to Serbia! That's the end," stated American professor Daniel Serwer as a guest on Face TV.
But is this alarming statement really true, considering the current state of BiH and its geopolitical position at a time when it is governed by a US administration controlled by Democrats. It is also true that Milorad Dodik, the leader of SNSD, whom America itself brought to power, desires Trump's victory, and precisely because of the upcoming elections in both the EU and the US, Dodik is delaying the proceedings before the BiH Court, hoping that new administrations from Brussels and Washington will help him.
Without wishing to discourage those who blindly believe in US help, I remind you that Sarajevo celebrated Joe Biden's victory, and in return, we received the support of the US ambassador for the High Representative in BiH Christian Schmidt when he suspended the Constitution of FBiH, all to favor Dragan Čović, now a politician who has found himself targeted by the United States due to the Southern Interconnection and liquefied gas from the US.
Simply put, Americans, regardless of who is in power, Democrats or Republicans, do not drastically change their foreign policy, and in that sense, they will not abandon Dayton, which is exclusively their project.
In this regard, the speech of the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, James O'Brien, who visited BiH and gave a lecture on the topic "Bosnia and Herzegovina: Challenges and Opportunities," should also be considered.
And if we know that O'Brien documented crimes from 1992, and if we know that he had to document genocide, systematic rape, ethnic cleansing, the worst crimes since World War II, mass destruction, and expulsions, why did he agree to write a Peace Agreement that ratified criminal campaigns and created a system in which criminal formations have the same legal, political, and institutional treatment as those who were the only ones legally defending the internationally recognized state.
O'Brien did not specify these circumstances, but he clearly stated that he participated in all peace negotiations.
“When the US began to lead peace negotiations, I worked as chief legal counsel for the peace negotiations between Bosniaks and Croats, which led to the Washington Agreement in 1994. Then I was involved in the Dayton process in 1995 as President Clinton's envoy. I started visiting Sarajevo and many parts of BiH almost 30 years ago. I like to return because I see progress in the country I first encountered through witness testimonies,” stated O’Brien.
Furthermore, if he followed and reported to the US administration on the verdicts of the Hague Tribunal, why then did the US not upgrade Dayton, because O'Brien claims it was the basis for the upgrade.
And Christian Schmidt destroyed Dayton, Dodik undermined it, claimed Professor Zlatko Hadžidedić. It should be reminded that the US directly supported Schmidt and his disastrous moves and impositions on election night and later during the establishment of government.
“That the Americans have given up on Dayton is clear to everyone after they allowed the High Representative Christian Schmidt to change the Constitution of FBiH. You cannot change one part of a peace agreement without the entire agreement being subject to revision,” Hadžidedić said.
Now the question arises: how can we have confidence in the credibility and good intentions of the administration from which O'Brien comes, if even after three decades we have a system and order that is the product of a de facto wartime and criminal situation.
And then, on top of everything, O'Brien comes to Sarajevo and lectures about the corruption of Bosniak politicians, even though he came to a country that, thanks to his product - Dayton and the actions of the US, is now on the verge of collapse under the pressures and attacks of internal secessionism and regional hegemonism.
Can corruption ultimately be stopped before secession and the hegemonic pretensions of Belgrade and Zagreb are stopped? A million-dollar question that no one answers!
