If the BiH Prosecutor's Office had done its job, Zoran Galić would have been behind bars long ago

When the BiH Prosecutor's Office confirmed to Patria in April 2023 that six cases had been opened against Zoran Galić, assigned to four prosecutors, one of whom left the BiH Prosecutor's Office, it was expected that the prosecution of the HDZ's eternal police cadre would follow.

However, as they say, nothing came of it. Instead, Galić fled Bosnia and Herzegovina.

(Patria) - Deputy Director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency SIPA, Zoran Galić, fled Bosnia and Herzegovina to Croatia before members of BiH police agencies arrived at his house in Posušje this morning, Istra has learned

When prosecutor Bojana Jolović filed an indictment against Rejhan Raković and others in the case of corruption and rigging the cadet admission competition from November 2020 (precisely the one that is the subject of correspondence published on Istra), it did not occur to her to prosecute Zoran Galić, then director of the BiH Border Police. No, she decided to call Galić as a witness, who completely facilitated the defense's job.

Of course, Galić was primarily protecting himself with his testimony.

The commission for cadet admission in that controversial competition was appointed by Galić himself. The arrest operation followed in September 2021, when money and a list of cadets to be admitted were found with Raković. Although the competition was not concluded, Jolović did not request that the competition be annulled. Various interests were at play, and the competition continued as if nothing had happened. Those cadets had already taken up their duties, and the competition itself lasted for three years.

In these three years, three competitions could have been announced to compensate for the missing personnel to a large extent. However, the personnel depletion and weakening of the BiH Border Police began and ended with Zoran Galić.

Illegal promotions, advancement of favored cadres, corruption, and poor staffing led to the situation where the state border must be guarded by police officers from the MUP RS, SIPA, and DKPT because there are not enough border police officers.

Response from the BiH Prosecutor's Office from April 2023 regarding the number of cases against Zoran Galić

Galić was a chosen cadre of HDZ and Dragan Čović, whom they wanted in the position of director of the Federal Police Administration. Although he was ranked first in the competition, the FBiH Government never appointed him. The lawsuit he filed against the FBiH Government was dismissed by the Municipal Court in Sarajevo.

However, the HDZ did not give up, so they promised Galić the position of Deputy Director of SIPA, where he was appointed in February 2023. And it was precisely SIPA members who were supposed to arrest Galić. However, according to the Prosecutor's Office, Galić received information about what was being planned for him, so he illegally crossed the border and fled to Croatia, of which he is a citizen. Galić was once the police commissioner of the West Herzegovina Canton, so it is evident that he knows where the BiH border is porous.

How important Galić is to the HDZ's "political family" is shown by the gatherings where Galić was right next to HDZ leaders. Both at Kupres in 2021 and in 2022 in Zagreb, where the HDZ Croatia and HDZ BiH coordination meeting was held, where he was photographed with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković.

It is precisely suspected that Galić fled to Zagreb, where he has been treated on several occasions.

The BiH Prosecutor's Office has never shed light on the affair of the disappearance of ammunition and equipment from the Border Police warehouse in Sarajevo. The shortage was determined at the end of 2017, and Galić sent a report to the BiH Prosecutor's Office in April 2018. At that time, the BiH Prosecutor's Office was led by Gordana Tadić. And this case is not registered in the six that the BiH Prosecutor's Office provided us.

At that time, optical sights, a device for covert Motorola operation, and some other valuable items, as well as ammunition, disappeared.

If Kajganić and Jolović had done their job, instead of waiting for an EUROPOL order, Zoran Galić would have been behind bars long ago.
