Parliamentary groups of SDP BiH, NiP, PDA, Our Party, and HNS yesterday submitted a Proposal for Amendments to the Rules of Procedure of the House of Representatives of the Federal Parliament.
The essence of the amendments is for the ruling coalition – comprising the "Trojka" and HNS – to enable the appointment of Marin Vukoja as a judge of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Fulfilling Čović's Wishes
Federal MP and member of the Election and Appointment Committee Eldar Čomor (SDA) believes this is a treacherous and subservient act by which the "Trojka" wants to fulfill the wish of the HNS, i.e., HDZ BiH and Dragan Čović.
- This is an attempt to take control of the Election and Appointment Committee. It is solely a desire for only one candidate's name to reach the Parliament of FBiH for the judge of the Constitutional Court of BiH – Marin Vukoja, who was politically scored as the first candidate despite having no work experience in the judiciary.
This is essentially a decision by which they automatically want to fill the Election and Appointment Committee and proceed with this task. Therefore, it is the exclusive desire of the "Trojka" to fulfill the demands of the HDZ and Dragan Čović – Čomor says in an interview with Patria.
The leader of NiP, Elmedin Konaković, stated on Face Television last night that he is completely in favor of Vukoja being appointed as a judge of the Constitutional Court of BiH, and he says he has repeated this 25 times.
Čomor says that Narod i Pravda (NiP) contributed the most to Vukoja being at the top of the ranking list during the scoring for the judge of the Constitutional Court of BiH.
- And therefore, it is not surprising what the Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmedin Konaković is saying, because all along since January this year, the most ardent and best in fulfilling the wishes of the HDZ have been NiP and their MPs – says Čomor.
According to him, if it weren't for the HDZ, neither NiP nor the "Trojka" would exist.
- All of them individually are losers from the elections, and none of them would be on the map if it weren't for the HDZ.
And all this that they are doing today in favor of the HDZ and SNSD, this betrayal, this selling out, no matter how much they deny it – they are actually lying and deceiving the people. So far, they have promised I don't know how many things and have fulfilled none of them, nor are they fulfilling them.
The EU has already told them that what they have done means nothing. So, it is a classic betrayal and selling out of interests, primarily of Bosniaks, but also of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina – adds Čomor.
The "Trojka" Policy
He emphasizes that the parties that were the biggest advocates for respecting citizens' rights in BiH until last year have become the biggest betrayers of citizens and a civic state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Čomor says he doesn't understand how the "Trojka" is absolutely unaware of the consequences that the appointment of Vukoja as a judge of the Constitutional Court of BiH would have for Bosnia and Herzegovina for the next 20 years.
- They will probably succeed in electing Vukoja in the end. Our demand from the opposition was to send the names of all ten, or as many candidates as we decide on, to Parliament.
And then for the representatives to have the right to choose one of them. But the HDZ is not sure that a candidate they want would be elected in the end, which is why they are looking for any way for only one name to reach Parliament.
Of course, this suits, above all, the SDP, Naša stranka, and NiP, so they can justify themselves in public – "for God's sake, we couldn't choose because there was only one candidate proposed in Parliament.
So that we – supposedly – don't block the election of a judge of the Constitutional Court now, we had to vote." And that is the policy of the "Trojka" – says Čomor.
He assesses that after the eventual appointment of Vukoja, the SNSD would immediately become active and start electing judges from Republika Srpska, who would exclusively defend the interests of that party and the policies of its president, Milorad Dodik.
And then, Čomor points out, one can only expect that one of the foreign judges will change their mind overnight and start making decisions that are not in the interest of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. And then we would have a situation where the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina would be undermined from one of its largest and most significant institutions – the Constitutional Court.
- Now I ask Elmedin Konaković, Nermin Nikšić, and Edin Forto – when that starts to happen, what will Bosniaks, Bosnians and Herzegovinians have to do?
What will happen when Republika Srpska makes some decisions about dissolution, what will happen when the HDZ and HNS have the desire to declare some Herceg-Bosnia again?
How will the BiH Constitutional Court react then, and what will those three do? And what will Bosniaks do at that moment, whom will they look to and hold responsible for such things?
Whom? Let them answer that to the citizens? Who will be responsible for such a situation?
I don't believe there will be a High Representative then who will be able to defend such things. What they are doing is a great betrayal and selling out of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
I don't know if they see it, but if they don't, then they have no idea about life – concludes Čomor in an interview with Patria.
