(Patria) - On the website of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) within the US Department of the Treasury, the Oil Industry of Serbia has been added to the expanded list of sanctioned individuals and companies, reported Danas.rs.
The authorities in Belgrade announced that the US might take this step.
This has sparked public debate about the potential consequences for the country and its citizens, and whether Serbia will allocate funds to buy out NIS.
Sanctions against NIS were imposed as part of sanctions targeting the company "Gazpromneft" and the Russian Federation.
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, convened several ministers, his entire cabinet, and all experts from the energy sector for a meeting at the Presidency.
