Iranian Ambassador for NAP: We are a peace-loving nation, but we do not bow to bullying and tyranny

We are used to American threats. They have been repeating them for a long time in various forms and ways, but they themselves know that they will not get any results from these threats, not even from the war they started.

This was stated in an interview with the News Agency Patria (NAP) by the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Abuzar Ebrahimi Torkaman.

For our portal, he spoke about the importance of ending the American-Israeli military aggression against his country, the failure of previous peace talks and their continuation, and he also commented on the threats from the United States that they might attack Iran again.

In the recent war between Iran and the United States, many countries have been economically affected, even though they practically play no role in this conflict. How important is it for you to end this conflict and open the Strait of Hormuz?

Torkaman: The Strait of Hormuz and maritime traffic in this waterway were open before February 28 and the start of American and Israeli military aggression. Also, after the first round of negotiations in Islamabad and based on the agreement reached, the Foreign Minister of our country announced that the passage of all commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz is free, but the US violated the ceasefire provisions and imposed a naval blockade.

Now, in our opinion, the Strait of Hormuz is open to all commercial ships, but they must cooperate with our naval forces. We have not created any obstacles; America is the one that imposed the blockade, and I hope this situation will end with the lifting of this illegal blockade imposed by the US.

The American action of continuing the blockade of Iranian ports or coast is not only a violation of the ceasefire agreed upon with the mediation of Pakistan, but also an illegal and criminal act. This action violates Article 4, Paragraph 2 of the Charter of the United Nations and constitutes an act of aggression according to Resolution 3314 (1974) of the UN General Assembly. This American action, designed with the intention of collectively punishing a nation, is a war crime and a crime against humanity.

We understand that many countries are affected and harmed by this situation, but the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz is a direct consequence of the lawlessness and arbitrariness of the US and Israel, and ending this conflict also requires a change in the illegal behavior of the US.

Every country that believes in responsible behavior towards international peace and security, towards its citizens, and towards the economic well-being of its people, must direct its pressure on the parties that have disrupted safe navigation in our region and the Middle East from the beginning. Because the problem is caused by the aggressive actions of the US and the Zionist regime, and it is quite clear that any intervention by other countries in matters related to the Strait of Hormuz and Western Asia will only further complicate the situation.

Torkaman: We are used to American threats

A new round of negotiations between Iran and the US, mediated by Pakistan, was recently held, in which the parties clearly did not reach an agreement. US President Donald Trump assessed the Iranian conditions as unacceptable. What is the reason for the failure of the negotiations so far? How do you assess this issue?

Torkaman: The recent escalation of tensions by American forces in the Persian Gulf and their numerous actions violating the ceasefire have increased doubts about the motivation and seriousness of the American side on the path of negotiations and diplomacy. The destructive approach of the American side has weakened the diplomatic process and deepened the Iranian people's suspicion of the American side's intentions.

For negotiations aimed at ending the war to be successful, it is undoubtedly necessary to stop the illegal aggression and the excessive and unreasonable approaches of the American side. The American side pursues only its own interests and insists on violating the rights of the Iranian people.

The release of frozen Iranian assets is not a concession that the United States would want to make to the Iranian people. This is about claiming rights. Or, regarding the discussion about stopping what they call a naval blockade, it is stopping an illegal act.

Again, it is not a concession they are making to Iran. The Iranian people have a peaceful spirit and have never wanted war and conflict, but they will not bow to bullying and tyranny.

People around the world should know that we are not aggressors, but rather the party that has been subjected to oppression and aggression, and we are only demanding our fundamental rights in accordance with international law.

As for the continuation of the process, we have shown that, regardless of all the parasites that may come from various directions, we are focused on Iran's national interests and will act to secure our national interests in any way necessary.

As for the success of the negotiations, the other side must come to the conclusion that a reasonable approach without exaggeration is needed towards the Islamic Republic of Iran and the issues it has with Iran.

At this stage, our focus is on urgent issues. What is urgent is the end of the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, and ensuring the security of navigation in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, while simultaneously stopping the illegal actions and piracy of the United States against commercial ships.

I think this is a very responsible and reasonable approach - to see the priorities in the situation we are currently facing and focus on resolving priorities, rather than talking about issues whose history shows that they have led to military aggression against Iran on at least two occasions.

The US President announced that the ceasefire is on life support and that he could restart attacks on Iran. What will be your country's response?

Torkaman: Yes, we have faced the threats of the American president several times. We are used to these threats. They have been repeating them for a long time in various forms and ways, but they themselves know that they will not get any results from these threats, not even from the war they started.

There is no military solution to issues related to Iran. Iran stands firm against threats and does not bow its head, and at the same time, those who speak to Iran with respect will receive a response in the same language.
